Captain Felipe Araya
Originally from Tilarán, Guanacaste, Capt. Felipe Araya brings over 10 years of professional sportfishing experience and a lifelong passion for the sea. His journey began in childhood with freshwater fishing, followed by his first experiences fishing from shore at age 12.
Specializing in jigging, popping, and offshore fishing, Capt. Felipe has explored Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, from the Nicaraguan border to Cabo Blanco. In recent years, he has focused increasingly on big-game fishing, particularly targeting billfish, yellowfin tuna, and roosterfish—his two favorite inshore and offshore challenges.
An experienced tournament angler, he has competed in events including the Rockstar and World Championship, earning first place in both the Roosterfish and Inshore categories at the Marina Flamingo Dorado Derby.
Driven by passion, experience, and a commitment to continuous learning, Capt. Felipe strives to deliver memorable fishing experiences while exploring new techniques and opportunities on the water.
Randy Vázquez
Hi, I’m Randy Vázquez, born in 1993 and proud to call Playa Brasilito my home. Growing up in this amazing fishing community, I’ve been surrounded by the ocean and fishing my entire life. My father, a fisherman and boat owner, introduced me to the world of sportfishing from the time I could walk, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
I have a true passion for all kinds of fishing, whether it’s shore fishing, bottom fishing, or trolling. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work as a first mate in numerous fishing tournaments alongside my dad. These experiences have helped me grow as a professional and deepened my love for what I do.
I’m dedicated to my work and genuinely enjoy every moment of it. I believe in putting in the effort to make each trip memorable for our clients, and I always aim to provide the best service possible. Now, I’m thrilled to be part of the Next Level team, an incredible boat equipped for unforgettable adventures. I’m excited to share my experience, passion, and dedication with every client who steps on board.
